The Hue: Paintings of a South Side Colony by Marcellous Lovelace | May 8 - July 3, 2015| Harold Washington Library Center, 8th Floor

These colorful mixed media paintings portray issues facing impoverished communities on Chicago’s South Side, built of food deserts, urban renewal, inverted justice and forced dearth. Their revolutionary message is zero tolerance for abuse of displaced indigenous peoples in a land of lost hope and no respect, urging "Don't settle for less, build and develop a better reality for yourself now!" Born and raised in Chicago's Roseland community, Lovelace studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the San Francisco Art Institute and the University of Memphis.
